Hi, got a couple of basic qutestions here. planing to upgrade from win 2000
AD to 2008 and exchange 2000 to 2007.

we have a dell poweredge server 2900 with RAID 1 and RAID5 (partitioned to
two logical drives). it is compatiable with 64-bit and all that.

my plans is to install all the program files on the RAID1, then have
Exchange database on one partition of the RAID 5. does this sound like good
plan?

Haven't worked with 2008 yet, will test some installs this weekend. where
should i leave the page file?

What's my best option here given what i have.

Thanks,
Steve Louie

Hello StevenLouie,

Is that the only server you have or is that an additional new machine?

A domain controller should not have Exchange installed, especially 2007.
Exchange should run on a separate member server in the domain.

An in-place upgrade from AD 2000 to 2008 is not possible. Also Exchange you
can not in-place upgrade.

So in my opinion, when you have one machine with server 2000 and exchange
2000 installed, you need at least 2 additional servers and at least one should
be capable of 64bit.

Best regards
