Hello

I would like to change my ADAM Service A/c Password. IF I change in in
services.msc and update ADAM Instance and then password. Will this work or
anywhere else I need to change this?

This ADAM Instance user is a member of Built-In Administrator group. I know
how can I change password in ADS.

I did as you said, and it works properly, but when I open ADSI Edit and
connect to DN, all the OU's which I was cerated with olderusername are
missing. There are some user coming on root level, but it is not allowing me
to open properties

Secondly I also try to connect with configuration using adsi, only sites
folder is populating under this folder, earlier there are other folders was
appearing with old username.

Let me knwo if I am missing anything

Hi

the service account controls the system side of ADAM operations,
it is the account that runs the ADAM instance as a process and to some
extent is involved in replication if you have configuration sets.

ADAM administrative rights are a function of the ADAM administration
account (members of the Administrators role) this usually has little/nothing
to do with the Service account. What happens if you connect to the ADAM
instance with an Administrator (not service) account?

When I connect as Administrator a/c, it gives me same result as I got with
new user. FYI olduser/newuser/administrator are part of Build-in Admin group.

I have another question let say if we change the password of olduser, will
we able to conect to default adam instance after changing password in
services of adaminstance? Or we still need to run dsdbutil?

Hi

So which account is your *ADAM* Administrator account? Is it
the account named Administrator local to the server ADAM is installed on?
Did that account have full visibility of the ADAM instance at some time
in the past? You seem to indicate below that it does not have visibility
any longer, has anything been changed on that account (password)?

Which account is your service account? Is it an account local to the
server ADAM is installed on? Is that the password you changed?
The procedure for updating the service account in ADAM is here [1].
Does the ADAM instance event log indicate that the ADAM instance
started normally after a restart?

Thanks
Lee Flight

Let me try to explain again for current user

We have a ads account i.e. domain\spadmin, ADS is not on this server, but
this user is part of build-in administrator group of ADAM installed machine.
We have used this username whne we installed ADAM initially. Everything is
working properly. As I ask If I change the password of this user (spadmin)
and also update service a/c credential for existing adam instance. Will it
give me problem? What process I should follow?

Lets finish it first, if I dont find any problem her, thne I will not to got
for new username/password for Existing ADAM Instance.

Hi

apologies but I'm struggling to follow your description. I have a suggestion
that might help which is to install a second ADAM instance in your
environment
with dedicated accounts separate from those in use on your production
instance
and test your planned changes on that instance and those accounts.
