Hi ,

I am trying to add my first Win2008 DC in my W2K3 domain and I receive a
message that indicates that a DNS delegation for the DNS server could not be
created and I should manually create a DNS delegation to the DNS server to
ensure reliable name resolution.

Should I just ignore this message and click contuine ?

Hello southpaw,

What account are you using and of which groups is it member? Seems that the
account you are using doesn't have the "Delegation privilege". Make sure
the account also has the following User right assignment:
"Enable Computer and User Accounts to be trusted for Delegation"

Also see this article about 2008 DC:

Hi
- Sounds that you're attempting to create qa child domain which is different
from an additional DC for an existing domain.
- Can you clarify what are you trying to do? New Domain, New Child Domain,
Additional DC...

For additional DCs, check if helps:

the account I am using has full administrative rights :Domain admin, schema

single domain/forest environment..

Ok,
In the DC that you want to add to your existing Domain, go to the NIC
properties and point the preferred DNS server to the existing DC (assuming
that the existing DC is also a DNS server) the previus link that I posted
shows that configuration in the additional DC to be add.
