Can computer's be renamed in bulk? If so can you point me to some resources which can help me develop one or may be leverage an existing one.

You are going to have to script it.

Doing this be script is very simple when done in conjunction with the
NETDOM utility.

The rename computer script in The Spider's Parlor Admin Script Pack
does this. http://www.thespidersparlor.com/products/products.htm
