Hi all,

I just introduce one windows 2008 domain controller to windows 2003
functional forest. Do I have to migrate to DFSR SYSVOL? If so, Will it
require wINDOWS 2008 FOREST AND DOMAIN FUNCTIONAL LEVEL?

Thank you!

Hello Ed,

No, you can just add it. If your domain is in the Server 2008 domain functional
level (all DCs are Server 2008), the system uses DFSR for SYSVOL replication.
If the domain isn't in Server 2008 domain level, so earlier OS DC exist,
the system uses FRS on all DCs.

Ed,
not only you don't have to - you will not be able to migrate to DFSR until
all your domain controllers are running Windows Server 2008 (and you are at
the Windows Server 2008 domain functional level).
