Hi,

We have one active directory forest which is synchronizing time from Unix
server. That works fine.

Now we have installed w2008 server which doesn't belong to domain. That
server gets time from internet and is going to be so called time server.

When I tried to configure PDC to get time from w2008 workgroup server I got
this error:"C:\>w32tm /resync
Sending resync command to local computer...
The computer did not resync because no time data was available".

Also I'm getting event to event viewer (29&38 from W32time) and the message
is something like this:
"The time provider NtpClient cannot reach or is currently receiving invalid
time data from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".

We checked firewall and there is no block rules on with time server and PDC.

Does anyone have idea why PDC (which is w2003) doens't synchrinize time from
time server (w2008) correctly?

Hello sam,

Did you configure the DC with the PDCemulator FSMO:
w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:peers /syncfromflags:manual /reliable:yes /update

where "peers" is the ip address form the 2008 DC?

Best regards
