Hello All,
I am running into this weird issue where the user configuration of the group
policy is not applying to the users. Below are the steps that I took to
troubleshoot this issue.

1. GPO status it is set to enabled
2. Under security settings for this GPO, Authenticated users are listed,
they have Read (from security filtering) and Inherited=NO
3. The PC is under same ou as this Group Policy
4. User is part of the domain.
5. Under Summary portion of RSOP>Computer Configuration Summary>Group Policy
Objects>Applied GPOs, this Group policy is applying succesfully to this user
6. Under Summary portion of RSOP>User Configuration Summary>Group Policy
Objects>Applied GPOs or Denied GPOs, I do not see this policy...
7. Under RSOP for this User>Settings, only the computer configuration
portion is applying, do even see any settings under user configuration.
8. Deleted/Unassociated this Group Policy and relinked this policy

I have been troubleshooting this issue for few days with no luck and I am
hoping some in this forum will be able to help me out .

Thanks in advance for reading this post.
Pete

GPO needs to be linked to the OU where target user accounts reside...
the users need to have Read and Apply Group Policy permissions to the GPO

I agree with Marcin.

In #4, where specifically is the user account?

This forum rocks, thank you for refreshing my memory Marcin, I ended up
turning on loopback policy for this GPO.

Thank You again everyone for your help... Next question how do I dissect the
log file userenv.log that Meinolf suggested for future troubleshooting, this
file has some good useful information that it generates...

Yep, good call on the Loopback! Yes it is a great forum!

And yes, that's a good way to troubleshoot if the obvious things aren't pointing to the problem.

Here you have some tips on interpreting the userenv.log file
