I want to build a development environment which is a replica of my
production AD. Can you point me to an article which provides a step-by-step
process.

I have an artticle on creating a test forest from an existing forest at:
http://www.pbbergs.com/windows/articles.htm

It is getting dated with virtual machines now there are other ways to do
this, but I have used this in different forms for over 3 years.
