Hello.
Is there a good profile migration tool out there that can migrate a user
profile from
peer to peer workgroup to active directory?

Hi Gira

Can you not use the default profile copy with windows, Right click My
Computer, select properties, then go to the Advanced tab across the top an go
into the profiles button.

Or manually, this is much faster. Open regedit and navigate to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList]
and search each entry (look like S-1-5-18, and longer for users), find the
S-1-5-18??? that lists the new domain users path, this will look like this
hopefully: ProfileImage %SystemDrive%\Documents and
Settings\GarryStarck.DOMAIN.LOCAL. Change this path to the older workgroup
entry, easy tip, the profiles are listed in order of creation date in the
registry. Do not forget to configure the NTFS permissions on the workgroup
profile, you can set the new domain user as the owner.

These are the two methods I use. the 2nd one I use when user profiles are to
large and take along time to copy. Remeber, only make the change in registry,
backup the registry 1st, never rename the actual file system folder to match
the registry. And set permissions, the 1st option has a nifty little check
box to allow it to set the permissions for the new user

In addition to Garry's suggestions, which are the built-in methods, there
are third party solutions that may help. Take a look at the following link.
The last I checked,
the User Profile Wizard costs around USD $2.00 per workstation with a 25
workstation minimum. The tool will allow you to preserve your profiles.
