Hi,

sorry for the question sounds silly but the it is "hammering" in my head:
- I have a domain x.local, an DNS AD Integrated W2K8 and its IP address is
192.168.16.2;
I will install an aditional DC for a remote site and another aditional DC
for main office.
That aditional DC will DNS too for the local workstations.
I would like to know if I can put, in DNS Primary, the IP address of the
each aditional DC´s.
For example, the IP address of aditional remote DC is 192.168.16.3 may I put
that IP address as primary DNS instead of the principal DC IP (192.168.16.2)
to avoid unnacessary DNS lookup traffic ?

Thanks for while.

Luiz

All of your DC's should point to themselves and your alternate dns
point to another if you choose to do so.

Hello Luiz,

Add itself as primary and the other DNS as secondary. Also do not forget
to configure AD sites and services for the new site and add the subnet there.
Also move the DCs to theire belonging site.

Additional make the new DC also Global catalog server, no problem in a single
forest domain as you described.

Best regards

There are actually three alternative approaches to this configuration - each
with its pros and cons. More info at
