Hello,

I am logged in as a Domain admin user on the forest root DC but when I
am trying to removee the child domain and another domain tree from the
Active directory Domain and trusts the Remove button remains fade out
even when I highlight the domain to remove it. What is the correct way
of deleting trusts and is there something I am missing ?

Thank you

Hello aconti,

They belong to the forest and if you like to remove a child domain you have
to demote all DCs, after that also the trust is removed.

In order to remove a forest trust, if my memory serves, I think you need
to be a Enterprise Administrator to do that. A forest trust is a little
beyond a "normal" domain trust.

Cheers,

That's because they are child domains. When a child is promoted, a two-way
transitive trust is automatically created between the child and the parent.
The only way to remove that is reverse the process, as Meinolf said, to
demote every domain controller in the child domain one by one, and on the
last one, make sure you select during the demotion, 'this is the last domain
controller in the domain.'
