Probably not but is it ok security to install AD on the same machine that
has either iis and/or sql server?

Really bad idea for a number of reasons - including performance and
security. In addition, as far as I recall, your SQL will fail if you promote
the server on which it was installed to a domain controller (or if you
demote a DC running SQL to a member server)...

I can only second Marcin's thoughts on this. You'll break at least SQL
server if you try to promote the machine to a DC - there are a lot of
security modification made during the dcpromo process.

Other than that, you'd also need to take multiple services down at once
if you need to reboot the box. AD and SQL would somewhat rely on each
other as if one is patched, the other one would also need to be rebooted.

Keep them seperated on different machines. That is the best approach
from multiple points.

Cheers,
Florian

Hello 7777,

As already stated from the others, keep iis and sql alone on member servers,
DCs should always do there own basic job, AD, DNS, GC and maybe DHCP.
