I'm trying to set up a WinServer 2008 as a DC, and the AD is in mixed mode,
so I have to upgrade it to native. Here's what I've got:

NT4 domain with trust set up and a few people on it.
Exchange 5.5 server with a few mailboxes on it (most on exch 2003)
Two other DC's running WinServer 2000.

Do I first need to totally lose the NT4 domain and Exch 5.5 server, and also
upgrade the Win2000 servers?

Hello dlw,

To get you correct, you like to upgrade the domain to windows server 2008
and this domain contains Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2003 and also 2000 domain
controllers and NT4 BDCs?

How is domain named, singel label like DOMAIN or is it DOMAIN.COM format?

Additional you have a trust to another domain?

Best regards

Yes, the domain contains all that, and is is DOMAIN.COM format.

Also, I am in the process of removing the exchange 5.5 servers, and getting
everyone off the NT4 domain.

My big concern is the Windows Server 2000 domain controllers and what I have
to do with them.

Hello dlw,

Still have a problem with your setup. What do you mean with "getting everyone
off the NT4 domain". If i understand you correct your domain is already upgraded
with 2000 DCs and youhave some old NT4 BDCs.

Or do you have a pure NT4 domain and a 2000 domain, where both are connected
with a trust.

Best regards
