Hi,
I am having a problem with running NTBackup on a 2003 SBS Server SP2. The
backup runs correctly around 50% of the

On a functioning backup the eventlog shows:
23:00:00 Removable Storage service entered the running state
23:00:27 The Volume Shadow Copy service was successfully sent a start control.
23:00:27 The Volume Shadow Copy service entered the running state.
23:00:30 The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service was
successfully sent a start control.
23:00:30 The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service entered the
running state.
23:31:52 The Volume Shadow Copy service entered the stopped state.
23:34:52 The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service entered the
stopped state.
23:45:26 RSM was stopped.
23:45:26 The Removable Storage service entered the stopped state.

On a backup that fails, the backup log file is created but nothing is
written to it. The eventlog for a failed backup shows:
23:00:00 The Removable Storage service entered the running state.
23:33:33 RSM was stopped.

Any ideas why the Volume shadow copy service is not being sent the start
control?
All suggestions greatly appreciated

Regards,
Damian
