I currently have a File Server running Windows Server 2003 R2 w/ SP2 and I
want to migrate off to a new File Server running Windows Storage Server 2003
w/ SP2, I am able to copy the quota.xml file from the \System Volume
Information\SRM, but the actual quota.md that is the database it is always
locked and I am not able to migrate that to the new server. Is there anyway
to unlock that file so I am able to migrate it to my new server? I currently
have almost 800 quotas currently set and would like to avoid needing to reset
those back up.

Hello Evan,

Did you stop the services belonging to FSRM? If you start the server with
a BartPe for example you can copy it that way.

Ok I didn't think of using that to grab the quota.md file. I was testing
things on the replacement server that I am moving to and if I stop the FSRM
service the file stays locked as well, and if I disable the service and
reboot the new server the quota.md file disappears totally. I will certainly
look at getting the file off via BartPE, I will just have to locate the
controller drivers for both RAID Arrays.

Thanks,
