We have Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2 and have installed
Exchange Server 2003 on it. Last week when I show that there is update
available on this server I cliked (generally it installs all update
early in the morning) on it to see which update it is and than when I
saw it is IE 8 I cancelled it and after that it seems like I am having
a problem on my server. I can see Login screen (CTRL ALT DEL) when I
login it shows me curser only and just a off white screen and it does
not do anything even I tried to login using RDC it does same thing.
Can you please guide me what could be the problem. It seems like if I
restart the server it should be ok but I can't see the desktop so I
can't restart or shut sown the server.

Thanks Issac for your response. Can you please tell me what do you
mean by remotely ?
Do you mean I have to use "shutdown /r /t 0 /f /m \\nameofserver "
from any other workstation or other server ?

Hi Issac,

I tried to use " shutdown /r /t 0 /f /m \\nameofserver" from my
workstation and it worked the command but it did not shutdown server
for morethan 45 minutes so I took out the powercord from server and
than I restarted server and after that again I shutdown properly and
restarted the server and my windows server 2003 and exchanges server
2003 both are ok.
