Hello all!

I hope that someone can give me some insight into this issue. I have
been searching for a couple of days now and have had no joy in finding
an answer. I have a server in one of my remote offices that is being
used to send faxes via MS Fax. It works fine the majority of the
time, but for certain customers it sends faxes multiple times.

What I mean is that we can send a fax to Company A and it will send,
it will show as sent, and that will be all; but for Company B it will
send, they will receive it, but the server shows an error that the
remote fax did not respond in time and will retry until it maxes out
its retries. This happens with a few specific customers. If we send
using a regular fax machine, it works fine.

I am seeing Event ID 32100 and 32101 in Event Viewer, but those don't
seem to tell me anything that I don't already know.

I really don't think that it is an issue on my end. My thought is
that it lies with the customer, but I can't just tell my customers to
go buy a new fax machine because my server doesn't like the one they
have.

So, I pose this question unto you, oh Great Gurus of Microsoft :) What
could be the problem? What can I do fix this?

Until I find an answer, I have dropped the max retries to 2.

Thank you!

Shawn

I had a similar problem a few years ago when we set up a ZetaFax server in
that many Fax's would fail, even to our own standalone fax machine!.
In the end I changed the Modem being used to a different one and the problem
immediately disappeared.
I think it was something to do with what "Class" the Modem can handle, but
since it was working, not to risk upsetting things!!
