Hi all, I have created a new website under IIS on my Windows 2003
Standard Server.

The problem that I am happening is that I can view the website
internally if I use the domain name but if I try to view the website
externally the website never shows. My browser tries to connect to the
website but eventually times out.

If I ping the website address from outside my server the domain name
does in fact resolve to the correct IP address on my server.

The IP address which the domain name resolves to has the same default
gateway as other IP addresses which work fine.

The website is an ASP.NET 3.5 website.

Any ideas welcome

Thanks in advance
Mark

Mark,
What do you mean by external? Do you mean from the public internet through a
firewall; or from a client on the same network as the server?

Hi Anthony; by external I mean any workstation other than the server.
If I type the domain into a browser on any other computer other then
the server the website does not appear. If I remote desktop into the
server and browse to the domain using the browser on the server the
website appears....

Just as a test I tried turning off the firewall on the server but the
issue still appears (+ I know port 80 is open)

Thanks for any help
best wishes
Markus

All fixed; it turned out that my dedicated host had not routed the IP
address to my box correctly..
Thanks
Markus

Markus,
Is there just the one website on this server, or several?
Does the server have a single IP address, and single NIC, or several?
What do you mean by the domain name?
Lot's of questions, but we don't have anything to go on at the moment,
Anthony
