Hi all,

We are using WSUS 3 to deploy updates accross our servers and clients and we
are noticing on several servers that the reboot process is paused just
before the actual machine should reboot. When we access the console using
iLO or VMware console because the server is inaccessible with RDP , we see
that the default logon screensaver is active. If a key is pressed/mouse
moved we momentarely see the Windows is shutting down message and the server
reboots.

Servers are running Windows Server 2003 sp2 (80x86-32).

Anyone has any idea why they pause?

Thanks,

Marcel

Hi Mervyn,

Correct interpretation, we really need to wake them up.
We already changed a update parameter (NoAutoRebootwithLogged...etc..) but
this was on several servers already set and they still encountered this
problem.

A GPO will be created to change that reg key. Unfortunately, we won't know
if this works until next month but we think it will.

Thanks for your assistence,

Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand several servers paused just
before the machine reboot. We cannot access them remotely and it would
reboot if any key/mouse is pressed. If I have misunderstood the problem,
please don't hesitate to let me know.

The cause is that when the screen saver is started the server will stop and
wait for the response. Please try to disable logon screen saver for these
system and test.

Hi Marcel,

Thank you for update. Please take time to try the suggestions; it's

Also, if the issue persists after disabling Screen Saver, please try to
