Hello,

I want to make sure I'm properly backing up WSUS 3.0.

I use Backup exec 12.5, currently I back up ----

The WSUS folder, the contents are ---
update services db files
update services packages

I also see in the WSUS server backup properties in backup Exec ---

Microsoft Sql Server --- Microsoft ##SSEE and the following are in that
option --
master
model
msdb
susdb

Should I stay with what I'm backing up, or choose the Microsoft Sql option
mentioned above ?

I just want to make sure if I ever need to re-install WSUS, I will have all
my updates, etc which I can restore back off tape.

Thanks,
Bob

Bob,

I don't backup WSUS.
It has tens of GB's of content which gets stale very quickly and which is
easy, but very slow to recover (re-download).

If you want to maintain high availability of WSUS, you better install two on
your network. You can chain them, so that one obtains updates from the
other. If the parent fails, the child can be easily reconfigured to obtain
updates directly from Microsoft.
