Nik,
start by verifying that your DNS is configured and operating properly (you
might want to point your DCs to a single DNS server and restart Netlogon
service to ensure that all AD specific records are properly registered -
although this could vary depending on your DNS configuration). If this does
not resolve the issue, try suggestions in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249256

I kind of had a feeling this may happen when you decided to do it manualy
(referring to your other thread). It may be due to the way the routing
topology is setup compared to how you set the partnerships, or it could be
due to DNS, single label name, multihomed DCs, and much more.

Follow that article that Marcin posted. Also, run a dcdiag /v and a netdiag
/v, and please post any errors or failures you see. What I'm looking for is
possibly a DNS GUID or other data under the _msdcs.yourdomain.local zone
that one or more of the DCs are looking for (such as a GUID), but that
doesn't exist.

Time for some configuration info, too. Please post an ipconfig /all from
your DCs, what sites they are in, and how the sites are specifically
connected. If you have a Visio of your DCs with ipconfig /alls, site
connections, etc, that would be easier to read.

See if the following example helps with what I mean by a Visio drawing.

Cool. Good luck with dcpromo on that beyond the tombstone DC.

Yeah!!! Sorry that I seem to be all over the place. The three that I worked
on last night are working like a charm. The Error I'm geting on the PROBLEM
server is Event ID:1864
This is the replication status for the following directory partition on the
local domain controller.

Directory partition:

DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=maxxam,DC=lab

The local domain controller has not recently received replication
information from a number of domain controllers. The count of domain
controllers is shown, divided into the following intervals.

More than 24 hours:

1

More than a week:

1

More than one month:

1

More than two months:

1

More than a tombstone lifetime:

1

Tombstone lifetime (days):

60

Domain controllers that do not replicate in a timely manner may encounter
errors. It may miss password changes and be unable to authenticate. A DC
that has not replicated in a tombstone lifetime may have missed the deletion
of some objects, and may be automatically blocked from future replication
until it is reconciled.

To identify the domain controllers by name, install the support tools
included on the installation CD and run dcdiag.exe.

You can also use the support tool repadmin.exe to display the replication
latencies of the domain controllers in the forest. The command is "repadmin
/showvector /latency <partition-dn>".

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

And with all that I'm still getiing updates on the PROBLEM Server. Just that
it takes pretty long. However, I will work on the others and then demote
that server and re-promote it.
I will stick to this thread as I go along.
I will try to keep you updated as much as possible on the process as I move
forward.
Thanks again

This dc needs to be removed from the domain/forest. I would demote and
repromote, anything else is going to be a problem from this point forward.

If the dc won't go away do a dcpromo /forceremoval followed by a metadata
cleanup

If you lost a dc you need to use ntdsutil and you may need to seize the 5
fsmo roles as well as clean up the metadata within AD.

Run the following on another dc's command prompt
netdom query fsmo

This will tell you if any of the roles was on the lost dc.

Metadata cleanup
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=216498

Seize roles
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;255504

Starting with 2008, Active Directory cleans up the metadata for you. This
can be done from both ADUC and ADSS. The instructions to allow AD to do
this are listed below.

Hi Paul,
No, my roles are located on another DC in the hub site, this is a sattelite
site. However, I did run your query to confirm.
thanks

I am being lite! LOL.

As for the 'old' thing, I meant the repadmin date report. It hasn't talked

So far so good, I've moved all the sites over and they replicate beautifully
with the hub. This evening I will demote and re-promote the PROBLEM dc and
provide you guys with an update tomorrow.

Just leting you guys know the demotion/promotion went well. For starters
some of the tests repldiag, etc for the first time are reporting no errors,
etc. So things are looking up
However, don't think you have gotten rid of me just like that. As I continue
to optimize I will make contact with you guys and start another thread
So lots of thanks for all the assistance so far.
