Hi All,
Is anyone familiar with Active Directory and IPv6? According to this note:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc776103%28WS.10% 29.aspx it
appears that AD is not supported with Windows 2003 Server IPv6. Does anyone
know if Windows 2008 Server does support it?
I am planning on setting up an IPv6 environment with active directory.
Ideally I would want one of these machines to be the Domain Controller and
the other ones to be part of that domain. All machines should connect with
each other through IPv6.
Thanks.

Hello jorge,

You can use it, but have a look on known problems/solutions in some scenarios:

Also see to disable it complete, if needed:

From your article (First I have seen this) it appears you will be forced
into using both ipv4 and ipv6. Why is it so important to use IPv6 only?
The internet has very few IPv6 sites so you will need to use ipv4 on your
clients unless you aren't going to allow public access.

What is your goal of ipv6 only?

DNS in Windows Server 2008 (x86/x64) supports IPv6 addressing.

Thank you all for your replies.

Paul,

Public access is not a requirement, this is for a closed test environment. I
want to test my application using IPv6. I have two main goals 1) Is to
connect to active directory using a ldap browsing tool such as Softerra's or
JXplorer, and using an IPv6 address. And 2) I need to setup a domain so that
one same user can access the 3 machines in my setup to run some tests on
clustering.

Thanks.
