The details provided by you are not sufficient, however as per my
findings, this issue seems to happen in Parent/Child Domain environment.
If True, please follow the steps provided below:

Note: Please do not follow the steps mentioned below if its not a
Parent/Child Domain Environment.

Cause: The trust relationship with one of the child domains.

Resolution: Delete and re-create the trust relationship using the
following
steps:

1. Run ADSIEdit in the Parent Domain.
2. Navigate to Domain -> System
3. You should see a "TrustedDomain" object called CN=<Child Domain
Name> -> Delete this object
4. Go to Domain -> Users
5. You should see a User object called CN=<Child Domain Name$> ->
Delete this object
6. Force Replicate throughout the Parent Domain so all DC's in the
Parent recognize this change.
7. Perform the steps 1-6 in the Child Domain as well (TrustedDomain &
User object will show CN=<ParentDomainName> & CN=<Parent Domain Name$>)
8. Once replicated, from parent domain, go to Domains & Trusts
9. Create a new Trust Relation with the Child domain
10. Again, force replication to all DC's in both Parent & then in Child
domains.

Please feel free to revert back if you have any queries.

Hi,

yes youre right. Root Domain with many Subdomains. Maybe theres a Trust
left from a already removed/deleted Subdomain. Ill check that tomorrow.
Recreating of all Truts might be a lot of work. Maybe i leave the error
as it is, as i have no problems regarding trust realtionship with any of
the sub domains yet. The error is in the eventlog since month.

Well, seems like we know the issue and resolution. If you want to fix
this, it will only take not more than 5 mins.

1. Check in error, which domain its referencing to.
2. Once domain is confirmed, than follow the steps provided in the
previous post.

See, its simple.

The error is referencing to the root Domain :/ (Root Domain has about
60 SubDomains).

Makes it more difficult now it seems.
