Is it possible to get multicast to work over VPN-connections?
Bi-directional.
Setup is 2003 and ISA 2006 + RRAS.
Cant find any usefull information about how to set it up correctly.

//regards

Hi there --

This newsgroup is for Active Directory issues and information. You probably
will have a much greater chance of receiving assistance with this if you
post it to another newsgroup, such as
microsoft.public.windows.server.networking, or in the Windows Server
TechCenter Network Infrastructure Servers Forum at
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverNI S/threads

Just a suggestion. :-)

MDNS won't work across subnets unless the router is specifically set
up to allow it. Try an ISA group, although I have my doubts that this
is possible.

I don't know if this question (ISA-with-VPN-with-multicast) has ever been
asked before in the history of mankind.

Any search that is done with ISA and multicast is only going to turn up
results in the context of NLB's and ISA Arrays,...not in the context of VPN.

I cannot prove it,...but I believe the answer is "No, it cannot do multicast
over VPN". I say that because regular routers have to be specially
configured to do that and to the best of my knowledge there is no such
"toggle" in ISA when ISA is being used as a LAN Router (which is what ISA
does with VPN traffic).

But if anyone knows different,...jump in,...the water is warm.
