I have a Windows 2000 functional level AD environment with a mix of 2000,
2003 and 2008 DC's. I would like to add an R2 DC as I am working to get rid
of all the 2000 and 2003 DCs.

Do I still need to run forest prep and domain prep since I already have 2008
DC installed? I couldn't find a good reference on this.

Is there a step by step document out there?

Yes, you need to run both adprep /forestprep and adprep /domainprep before
introducing Windows Server 2008 R2 DC in an existing Domain/Forest.

Hello Glen,

Yes, Windows server 2008 R2 uses schema version 47 instead 44 which is used
from Windows server 2008, check with "schupgr" in a command prompt.
