I am putting up some points to convince my management to upgrade all AD DC's
to Windows Server 2008 R2, can you provide me some business and technical
value that Windows Server 2008 R2 AD brings to a company.

Hello Gazi,

Upgrade from which OS version?

There are new options like Fine grained password policy, in earlier times
you had to use 3rd party software for additional password policy in a domain.
Active directory recycle bin is an easy way to recover deleted objects. DFS
will now replicate sysvol, if DCs use Windows server 2008.

R2 hasn't even been released yet. How much effort has been put in to test
it in your environment. If you recommend this and they agree and things go
south you could get yourself into a bind. If you are unsure what the
benefits are I expect you have never even loaded the software or tested it
out. Plus, do these dc's do things like application support as well?
Although not recommeded many smaller shops multi-use dc's and R2 is 64 bit
only, could your applications run in a 64 bit environment.

I think it is in your best interest to do some research on what your
company's weaknesses are and from that point, point out what 2008 can
provide.
