Hi
I have doubt over setup a primary and secondary server in windows 2003
(or) 2008 new forest in my new office. I promoted one server as a
primary domain. All users are created and it's working fine.I know how
to promote a server to a child domain for primary server. Now I want
to know how i promote another server as a secondary domain. How can I
do it? After promotion how I can conform all my primary data's in
secondary server.

You basically configure the new machine to have the current DC as the
primary DNS server. Then run DCPromo and make sure you select
"additional domain controller in existing domain" and that it installs
DNS on the new box. That's about it. After dcpromo has finished and the
box restarted, data should have replicated between the DCs so that
they're equal partners in the domain. You may want to give the two boxes
another hour or two before you mess with them.

Also make sure you configure client machines to use the new DC as a DNS
server as well. Otherwise they won't fall back to the other DC if one of
them is down.

Cheers,
Florian

Hello khan,

It's not that difficult. On the existing DC i would use, if not already done,
AD integrated DNS zones(they replicate with AD).

Now configure the member server that should become the seond DC to use only
the existing DC/DNS as preferred on the NIC, none else.

Run run dcpromo /adv on the member server(with Windows server 2008 directly
choose DNS and GC) with Windows server 2003 make it DNS and GC after the
promotion is done and choose "An additional DC in an existing domain".

When replication has finished, you can control with repadmin /showrepl or
replmon(GUI version).

After replication is done configure both DCs to use itself as preferred and
the other DNS as secondary on the NIC. Also configure all domain members
to use both DNS on the NIC.
