I have two Windows 2003 Domain Controllers, both running DNS and one
running DHCP. I built two new Windows 2008 servers that I want to take
over these roles. What is the best way to replace these servers? I'm
not sure to make them DC's first then DNS and DHCP.

thanks.

Hello Rick,

Why moving the ip address, this requires additional steps of changing the
old DCs ip to a different one before you can use the then free ip on the
new server? Also you hgave to check that ll changes are replicated to all
DNS servers before going on. DNS is based on names not on ip addresses.

I am replacing my two DNS\DC's with new ones, so all my servers DNS
settings need to be changed if I put in place a new DNS server(s) with
new IP's. Also I want to keep the same IP for my DHCP server.

thanks
Rick

Hello Rick,

Then you have to use a temporary ip address to free the ip from an old DC,
wait for replication of all changes within DNS, then use the free address
for the 1st new installed DC, wait for replication of the change and so on.
